Westbrook travels to the Côte d’Azur as points leader

Stuttgart. The fourth round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup at Monaco promises gripping racing action. There's no room for the slightest error in the narrow streets of the Principality, and Richard Westbrook from London comes to Monaco holding the points lead by a narrow margin of just two points ahead of Ireland's Damien Faulkner. Both drivers are well known in the Porsche makes cup scene for their success in the Carrera Cup Great Britain, where Westbrook clinched the championship in 2004, followed by Faulkner who was crowned champion in 2005 and 2006.
Winning in Barcelona (Spain) and securing second and fourth places in Bahrain, Richard Westbrook has collected 52 points so far. Damien Faulkner brought home a win and a third place from Bahrain to finish fourth in Spain.
Behind the leading duo sits Italy's Alessandro Zampedri in third with 42 points. The businessman from Brescia has competed in the Supercup since 1999 and won the championship in 2005. Another former Supercup champion holds fourth place in the drivers points at present: Germany's Uwe Alzen (38 points) won the title back in 1994 and finished the 2006 season as runner-up. The 39-year-old former DTM pilot won this year's second race in Bahrain. Behind Alzen, Christian Menzel (Germany, 34 points) and David Saelens (Belgium, 28 points) rank fifth and sixth.
31-year-old Saelens has fond memories of Monaco: He turned the fastest race lap on the street circuit in 2005 and finished second in 2006 ahead of Richard Westbrook. „This track is a serious challenge“, says the Belgian, „and the qualifying is maybe the most important of the year, as overtaking is almost impossible on these 3.3 kilometres.“
TV station „Eurosport“ broadcasts the 16 lap race through the streets of Monaco live on Sunday, 27 May from 11.20 hrs and shows highlights of the Supercup weekend on Sunday evening in the „Motorsports Weekend“ programme.
