Second pole position in a row for Grosjean
27.07.2007 |
|
After he set the fastest lap time in qualifying for the first time at Mugello a fortnight ago, Romain Grosjean (ASM Formule 3, 1:32.290 min) also claimed pole position for the eleventh season round of the Formula 3 Euro Series at Zandvoort. Sébastien Buemi (Mücke Motorsport, 1:32.459 min) still claimed second place in the final second ahead of Yelmer Buurman (Manor Motorsport, 1:32.687 min). For the 20-year old Dutchman, third position at his 4.307 kilometres long home track is his best qualifying result in the Formula 3 Euro Series so far.
Japanese Kamui Kobayashi (ASM Formule 3, 1:32.775 min) qualifying fourth from the best-place rookie Yann Clairay (Signature-Plus, 1:32.815 min). With five minutes remaining, the 23-year old Frenchman still was in the top 3. But just before the end, Buurman and Kobayashi outpaced Clairay at the dune circuit.
Romain Grosjean (ASM Formule 3): “This morning, I was fifth with old tyres and I already had a good feeling for qualifying. That was almost perfect indeed. I just had a little bit of bad luck with the yellow flags, otherwise it would possibly have been even quicker. I am happy with my second pole in a row.”
Sébastien Buemi (Mücke Motorsport): “In the first half of qualifying, my car still had too much understeer. But then we managed to solve that problem. In the second half, it took me a long time before I was able to attack because of the yellow flags. I could only set my fastest time on my final lap, but then my tyres already started to wear.”
Yelmer Buurman (Manor Motorsport): “It went quite well, third place is okay. Unfortunately, I had the problem of the yellow flags towards the end. But I am also very happy with third place on the grid for my home race here at Zandvoort.” |
