Romain Grosjean (ASM Formule 3) from Kamui Kobayashi (ASM Formule 3) was the finishing order of the eleventh season round of the Formula 3 Euro Series. At the 4.307 kilometres long circuit in the Zandvoort dunes, 21-year old Grosjean kept a margin from 0.5 to one second over his Japanese team-mate throughout the race. For the Frenchman, who lives in the Swiss city of Geneva, it is the fifth victory of the season. He further extended his points lead in the championship standings of the world’s strongest junior racing series. Now, he is ten points ahead of Sébastien Buemi (Mücke Motorsport), who finished third in the race at Zandvoort.
Fourth place was occupied by Yann Clairay (Signature-Plus). This made the 23-year old Frenchman the best-placed rookie in the 23-car field. Nico Hülkenberg (ASM Formule 3) finished sixth behind Franck Mailleux (Manor Motorsport). The German attacked the Frenchman several times, but Mailleux succeeded in defending his position.
Romain Grosjean (ASM Formule 3): “My fifth victory, more points in the Formula 3 Euro Series and having extended my lead in the points’ standings, it is a good day for me. I have won the start from Kobayashi, which was virtually important. My goal for tomorrow’s race is scoring some more points.”
Kamui Kobayashi (ASM Formule 3): “My start was good and I managed to keep Romain Grosjean under pressure throughout the race. However, unfortunately, I couldn’t find a way past as overtaking here is difficult.”
Sébastien Buemi (Mücke Motorsport): “At the start, Kamui and I tangled. After that, I had strong vibrations on my car. All in all, the race was boring for me as Romain Grosjean and Kamui Kobayashi in front of me were too quick and I had nobody coming up from behind.”
