Despite bad weather at Lake Iseo in northern Italy and a major propeller problem, Montavoci clocked 98mph in his Gibellato boat. On board were his Metamarine Corse team mates, Supersport world champion Fabio Magnani and Norwegian Kolbjorn Selmer. Managing Director of Powerboat P1, Jim O'Toole said: "Although the record speed was lower than Giampaolo had hoped, it is an outstanding achievement and we send him and his team our congratulations. However, the success was totally overshadowed by the loss of his mother.”

Class 1 Pilot Giampaolo Montavoci und das Metamarine Team aus der P1 Weltmeisterschaft wollen mit ihrem Evolution Boot die 120mph Marke brechen. Bei dem Rekordversuch mit an Bord sein werden Montavoci´s Co. aus der Class 1, der Norweger Kolbjorn Selmer, und der P1 SuperSport Weltmeister Fabio Magnani. “Rekorde sind zum Brechen da,” so Montavoci zuversichtlich. Er sieht den Rekordversuch als gute Vorbereitung für die P1 WM die im Mai mit dem Italian GP in San Benedetto del Tronto beginnt. Das Ergebnis wird nach der offiziellen Prüfung bekanntgegeben. |
