| Team Honeyparty.com has won the Royal Motor Yacht Club Brass Monkey offshore powerboat race, their first race since bringing the boat to the UK. Throttleman Team Manager Mark Pascoe and driver Neil Holmes lapped their way to victory on Saturday completing the 36nm course in 34 minutes. The sound of the engines could be heard across Bournemouth bay as the boat thundered around the course at speeds in excess of 100mph. Team Honeyparty.com, the British powerboat team of Richard Carr brought the specially designed 39ft Vee Hull Skater to the UK last week after the successful completion of its winter US race programme, where they won the Offshore Super Series (OSS) World and National Championships, |
in the super vee extreme class. "The boat preformed flawlessly and never missed a beat," says Mark Pascoe. "The Brass Monkey was a great opportunity to continue our development programme as the 2008 Powerboat P1 World Championship season draws ever closer." The race was also a test for the two newest members of team Honeyparty.com Crew Chief Trevor Leigh, and mechanic Danny Armon. Trevor has over 20 years of experience in racing with teams such as Tekne Lamborghini, Victory Team, Cougar and Honda UK and Danny has 15 years of high performance boating experience, working for Vulture Ventures, Cougar, Pascoe International and has also raced Honda with Mike Brewer and Eddie Jordan. |
