| Reigning champion SuperSport team Racing Project has announced a technical partnership with Conam Yachts for the 2008 season that they hope will help them defend their 2007 crown. The team’s Mercury Racing-powered Chaudron boat will be renamed as the #44 Conam Yachts. “This is an agreement to primarily advertise the Conam Yachts brand in Europe and the Middle East, where Powerboat P1 will be racing this year,” says Conam Yachts engineer Joseph Cimino. “Among the various initiatives related to our sponsorship, we’ll also be looking to organise mini exhibitions with Conam yachts during the race weekends, particularly in venues such as Malta and Portugal.” Racing |
Project team boss and throttleman Angelo Tedeschi said that he was looking forward to working with Conam Yachts, both as a sponsor and as a technical partner. Cimino was responsible for the design of a world record-breaking speedboat in the 1970s, and Tedeschi is keen to get his involvement in Racing Project’s Powerboat P1 programme. “Conam Yachts are real fans of motorboats and speed,” Tedeschi said. “I could not find better sponsors. It will be a very interesting collaboration. We’ll be using the engineering knowledge of Cimino to improve the performance of our boats. Sometimes just a brilliant move of weights can earn an extra two miles per hour.”
