| The news became public as Martin Sanders announced his new promotion on stage after receiving the ‘Wilkinson Sword of Achievement’ at the F4SA’s annual awards dinner earlier this month. Honda have been the driving force behind the series since its inception in 1999 and now as the team at the F4SA bid farewell to Martin for all his hard work and commitment they can be assured that his guidance and involvement will still be close by as he takes on his new role of General Manager Honda Motor Europe Power Equipment. Martin’s involvement over the years has clearly made an impact on what the series is today, however this sport is still unbelievably over looked in comparison to other major sports like Formula One. to help promote Honda’s newly developed BF130 engine. “We have now built ourselves up to by far the best professionally run powerboat series in the world and now feel we have to go beyond this to hopefully put powerboat racing in a place it deserves,” said Steve. As new the new Director of the Honda Formula 4-Stroke Geoff Mathews steps up to hold the reins of the UK’s series we await in anticipation of what he has planned for the future. “I am delighted to be involved with the series again. I have watched it grow from strength to strength since my initial involvement in the early days before I moved from my position as National Sales Manager of Honda Power Equipment and now it is great to be back with the team again,” said Geoff.
