| Midway through the season, with three wins out of four and a second place under their belts, Victory 77’s Arif Al Zafeen and Jean-Marc Sanchez hold the upper hand in the title race, 19 points ahead Qatar 96 and 30 points clear of the defending world champions, Spirit of Norway. Team manager, Gianfranco Venturelli, was impressed with 77’s performance in Romania, but is well aware that there is a lot of work still to be done. “Romania was a very nice race, one of the best races for a long time,” he said. “It was a very good and complete performance by Arif and Jean-Marc. |
They made a good start, were very consistent throughout and made no mistakes. This is the main reason why we won.” But Venturelli was measured in his response when asked if he was confident that the team could go on and take the world title. “Now we have to try to keep our focus, a lot can happen in four races. We must maintain our reliability. This is the most crucial point. Of course a lot depends on what others do, but if we keep finishing on the podium which we know we can, then I think we can expect a fantastic finish to the season in Dubai.”
