The close championship battle this season has contributed to making the race in Porto/Gaia, the third to last stop in 2007, a magnet for some of the biggest crowds seen this year. The spectator areas along the Douro River between Porto and Gaia were packed with people even hours before the race. Even the balconies on buildings facing the river were also filled with spectators. “People keep coming up to me and offering me incredible amounts of money for a spot on my terrace,“ said one resident with a view of the river. “I have to keep telling them I’m already sold out.“

Die 8. Station der Red Bull Air Race World Series in Porto/Gaia zieht Menschenmassen an. Beim „Public Pit Lane Walk“ am Red Bull Air Race Airport nahe der Atlantikküste vor Porto staunten an die 5000 Fans über die Rennmaschinen und standen für Autogramme der Piloten in der Schlange. „Die Leute haben viele Fragen und sind begeistert. Es wird mit Abstand eines der emotionalsten Rennen“, verspricht der österreichische Air Racer Hannes Arch. Eine Tribüne am Rande der Start und Landebahn bietet während dem Rennen perfekten Einblick auf das hektische Treiben am Flughafen. |
