Air Race pilots fly past the Alps
In preparation for the fifth leg of the Red Bull Air Race World Series, which takes place in Interlaken, Switzerland this weekend (14-15 July), the world’s best race pilots took to the skies today, flying in front of the famous trio of peaks, the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Pictured in these photos are Kirby Chambliss(US/Team Red Bull/Edge 540), Nigel Lamb (UK/Team Breitling/MX2) and Nicolas Ivanoff (France/Team M.R.T./Extra 300 SR).

In the Air Race, pilots navigate through a slalom course made up of air-filled pylons, at speeds of up to 400 kph and reaching 10G in tight curves. A total of some six million spectators turned out for the eight races held worldwide last year.
