Hockey Red Bulls pay visit to Air Race

The EC Red Bull Salzburg hockey team paid a visit to the Red Bull Air Race World Series in Budapest. The visibibly enthused hockey players from the defending Austrian champions took a short break from their pre-season training for the excursion to the Hungarian capital and they were all in awe over the performance of the world’s fastest pilots.
“It’s just insane what these pilots do,“ said Richard Jackman, a 29-year-old newcomer to EC Red Bull from Toronto (CAN). “I’ve been sitting on planes about every other day in the last few years playing in the NHL but what these guys do up there is just a bit too much for me.“ Jackmann played 231 NHL matches for the Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins before transferring to Salzburg before the start of the season from the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Anaheim Ducks.
Red Bulls captain Dieter Kalt added: “It’s impressive and exciting. The Red Bull Air Race is a great opportunity for us to get a short break from the pre-season training. We’ve never been to a race before even though we all follow the World Series in the papers, on television or on the internet. I have to admit I was surprised that even our newcomers knew a lot about about the race. I’ll obviously be pulling for Hannes Arch. But Richard Jackman thinks Mike Mangold can’t be beaten this season.“
The EC Red Bull Salzburg are confident they can defend their championship in the 2007/08 season and they are also preparing for the upcoming home tournament “Red Bulls Salute“. The invitational tournament on September 25/26 in Salzburg will also feature the Los Angeles Kings,
the Färjestad BK and den HC Davos. Head coach Pierre Page said: “The Red Bulls Salute will make Salzburg the European capital of hockey.“
